With shutter maxed out at 1/8000 and iso already at 50iso no choice but to stop down a bit and loose some background blurr. Happens often with M4, and M3, worse still with f1.4 and f1.2 lenses for witch the A1 is a better pair with it’s max 1/32000s.

I really like this lens. Perfect entry point on the GM world.

Hi Afonso,
nice pictures.....I think you are maybe preaching to the converted however, I don't think I have
seen anyone on this site or in the wider photography community who would argue against the outstanding
quality of the images from the Sony 135mm f1.8.

I personally own the 135mm and as a birder shooting with the A1 am also very familiar with the lenses capability,
particularly with the A1

The comparative DXOMARK data on this lens is of the highest order, and whilst some may dispel the value of such
stats, I agree the practical truth is this lens delivers in every way, which your images clearly demonstrate.....(y)

Roger Cicala’s “preliminary“ measurements of ten samples of this lens are summarised by him as “This is the sharpest lens we’ve tested. Period.” His tear down of one reveals a beautiful internal layout, too.

This lens, for me, was the start of Sony making magnificent lenses - not just good, not just great. They’ve invested some serious R&D money into creating new tech, like their aspherical lens polishing (this lens contains a large aspheric element; the 70-200 GM II takes it a step further and allows them to eliminate an element by combining an aspheric with another); another change is adopting two focus groups driven by independent pairs of focus motors.

Now I want them to apply all of that to making the 135’s big brother: a 200mm f/2 (although I won’t knock back a 200mm f/1.8…)
