90mm macro good for long shots ??

I am currently in the market for the Sony 90 mm macro G lens , I’m curious if this is going to be a reliable option for long distance telephoto shots also. I am aware this is also a good portrait lense also? Thanks in advance!

It's a macro lens, meant to get up close and personal with one's subjects. And, yes, while it can be used for portraits, too, actual telephoto ranges start at somewhere around 135m and beyond.

Supertelephoto starts at 300mm.

That has an angle of view of c. 8 degrees (on the diagonal).

90mm has c. 27 degrees.

You'd need massive cropping to get a match and that would turn the image to crap.
