Just loving this combination, light, fast and great AF.
Only 10 megapixels due to being a APSC lens. But produces great images.
Equivalent to 105-525mm in full frame format

Fun at the feeder

I almost went to buy this lens for my A7c, but bought the 70-300mm OSS full frame (used E+) instead. I was a bit leary about the reduction in sensor resolution. It appears that I was wrong. The resolution is phenomenal.

Wow, these results are great! If you're not cropping in post, and don't intend to make big physical prints, I don't think you're going to miss the megapixels much.

I use this lens on my A7riii. Yes it's 10mp but the image it produces are fine and I know from years ago when cameras were 8mp I could get a good A3 print if I wanted.

The A7R-III in APS-C is closer to 18MP.

So it is. I've been thinking of the A9.
It can be confusing! Even Sony can get it wrong, they list the A7-IV as 14.1MP in APS-C, but it's really 14.8MP. Not that it makes a huge difference, but it'd be nice if they could get it right in the specs!
