Birds Birds Non-BIF Thread - Post Your Shots Here

what species is this? I think I've seen them here in South Florida.
Hi, Chris,
Thanks for asking.
It's a Red-winged Blackbird.

Here are a couple of more recognizable photos.

I bought a Sony 100-400 GM lens this week and decided to go to a local zoo to play with it this morning. As I walked out of the house I heard hawks and saw three flying off in the distance. I got a few photos but none were really any good. I got in the car and headed toward the zoo and about a half mile from my house saw what I thought at first were a couple of hawks chasing each other. I then noticed that one bird was bigger and saw the white head moving through the trees as it perched on a limb. I found a spot to park on the side of the road and managed to get some shots of the male bald eagle that the red-shouldered hawk was harassing. There were lots of branches so I'm glad he stayed perched while I adjusted to allow DMF so I could adjust focus manually. Unfortunately there were too many trees in the way to get a good shot of him in flight but it was cool to see. I'm hoping he will return to the area and I can get a better view.

This guy is always around the garden busting a tune out and even sits 3 feet away from me when I fill the bird feeders, he is barely 3 inches tall

While I'm waiting for my A7 IV to arrive, I was wondering if it would be wrong to post some photos from my lowly 6.1 megapixel Minolta 7D to this forum, since they are not from an Alpha camera. This was my first digital camera dating back to 2006 when I did a photo-safari in Tanzania and got a number of good shots. I don't want to violate protocols! :)

I am fairly sure Minolta is fine as its part of the Sony family, I post with Sony body and Minolta glass now and then and @ Brownie has posted with his recently purchased 5d take a look at his Confession thread :) :)

Took advantage of a guided "brisk" walk at a near by State Park with a State Park Ranger. Since I was with a group of folks I brought a 35mm and a 85mm Lense as I thought there would be more landscape and people photos. We came around a bend and I saw this bird standing on this old fallen tree. I had my 85 mm on the A7 IV and started shooting as there were a number of children in the group and I knew it would be gone quickly. After a discussion and review of the photos it was identified as a juvenile Coopers Hawk. That 85 mm lense did a pretty good job in a pinch.

I didn’t expect these stars from the Sony 24-240 lens.

That is weird. There should be 14 rays for that lens. Looks like the ones down in the corner would be what you'd expect if we could see them all. I would expect the stars I see to come from a lens with 8 blades.

I shot that in Prague. I did have one other lens at that time. An old Pentax 50mm F1.4 film lens - with 6 blades. Ionly tested it a couple of times while on holidays but that would explain it. Also explains the dodgy focus. Manual. :)
