Birds Birds Non-BIF Thread - Post Your Shots Here

I shot that in Prague. I did have one other lens at that time. An old Pentax 50mm F1.4 film lens - with 6 blades. Ionly tested it a couple of times while on holidays but that would explain it. Also explains the dodgy focus. Manual. :)
That doesn't make sense either. A lens with an even number of aperture blades will create sunstars with the same number of rays. So, 6 blades = 6 rays. On the other hand, a lens with an odd number of blades will create sunstars with double the number of rays. 9 blades = 18 rays, 7 = 14, etc.

If the Pentax lens was used and had 6 blades, there should be 6 rays.

I spent the morning at the Conestee Nature Preserve in Greenville, South Carolina and most of the birds either stayed hidden or were far away. I did get some shots of various birds. Here are a few of the small ones.

Wow love that third shot with that very sharp and detailed heron. Beautyful colours too.

In my long wait for the sparrow-hawk to turn up this little guy never let me down.:) (Temporary one arm handicap due to an arm-operation so I have to use remote controlled camera setup)

I have a number of 40 year old lenses. I’ll see if I have one with 8 blades.

Is that the bird that gets incorrectly identified as a jabiru? I think its proper name is a black necked stork (which is a much more boring name!
Yeah, I just got home and found the name. Ephippiorhynchus asiaticus

A magnificent bird. So, I’ve got to go through my shots and see if I got a good shot of the whole show!

Red tailed Black Cockatoo… magnificent plumage. Shame she was not co-operating!

This tree needs to be confiscated from you mate, the images you get of it and it's occupants are just too good! I'm getting jealous over here! Well done! 😁
