Birds Birds Non-BIF Thread - Post Your Shots Here

You will need to get the local bird packs for areas.
I am pretty sure that is a Glaucous-winged Gull based on the feet. Could be a Herring Gull. Both are common to the area and both are among the mostly white with grey wing area and a red spot on the bill.
I thought the red spot was from dinner.

I was truly fascinated by its size. Quite intimidating when I had lunch! 😂

Took a walk around a lake and saw birds both small, such as this Song Sparrow singing in the top of a tree...

and large birds like this Great Blue Heron who let me get quite close after I watched him catch and swallow a fish (as seen in a separate post.)

An Australasian Swamphen just snuck up under my feet while I was photographing black swans today.

And I thought I spotted the slickness Monster, a long way off, but then I figured it was a swamp chicken with her chick on its back.

Pretty sure this is the Noisy Minor, not to be confused with the introduced and invasive Indian Miner. (Which I always confuse)

Cheers Ray. They're definitely the most aggressive birds I've seen, if these Willy Wagtails had any size on them they'd probably rule the world I reckon. Little weapons for sure!

It was a flat afternoon which delivered quite lifeless images but probably the most amount of energy I've seen from the bird life in a while so I just had to make do with that. Still it's nice to have images in all the different scenarios.

I reckon It’s their white eyebrows that makes them look angry. Such cheeky characters. I saw one chase off the minor birds yesterday, and the little guy down on the beach chased off a magpie last week. Hilarious.

I was tracking Willy but managed to get neither in focus.

Agree...just go with what you have rather than wishing for better....

Lol! I dug this one up for you. They're the world's premier insect assassin... 💥

This one was at Centennial Parklands over the west side road of the main lake.

That’s a perfect photo. Obviously just had the bucks party. Someone shaved off one eyebrow.

I love the centennial park. It’s within walking distance but I ride the motorbike there.

Im a little annoyed with Sony A7iv geotagging my shots. After using iPhone which tags everything, the Sony is hit and miss. I started adding the info later but in the last few weeks I’ve gotten lazy.

Soon I won’t remember where I saw that insect eating monobrow.

Hey, Gaz,

The latest version of Imaging Edge Mobile has been much better at connecting to the phone and getting the location information. I don't have to give it any thought. It just runs in the background and connects to the camera automatically.

Had an interesting day in the back yard. Almost everyone showed up. This was about 2 hours.

Really? I could tell the story behind every image that I've edited..! Never wanted to use anything like that...

I have the garden at Caringbah or the mangrove walk at Taren Point for my quick and easy locations. I recommend you hit Taren Point one day, that's where most of these images were from the series I put up yesterday, honey eaters and wrens are usually ripping around there too. 🙂
