This morning my Wife and I headed south to one of the nearby Preserves. The Sand Hill Cranes have migrated north for the summer but I never made it close to them before they left. They will be back in September or October. Today was the first use of my 1.4 Teleconverter. It was nice to have a little extra reach. The very first thing we ran into was a Snowy Egret, at least this is just my best guess. All in all, it was a much calmer scene than early February when we first visited. If your interested in see my photos on Flickr, here is a link to today's Album. In the mean time I'll post a few photos here. 2022-03-22_001.jpg

The Egret is what we called a Great White Egret here in the UK. Nice shots.

Thank you, Kev. You prompted my research and the bird is known as a Great Egret here.. This bird is fairly common here and is a confirmed year round Nester at the Preserve. The Preserve lists this information but without photos.

Cool. This is a species that used to be a very rare visitor in the UK, even 10 years ago, but now they breed here and are becoming widespread. We see them almost every trip on certain reserves.

Great shots Jeff. Looks like a lovely spot to spend some quality time with the camera and nature.

Thank you Tim. I fooled around too long and I missed my chance by three weeks at Sand Hill Cranes which occupy these lands. They will return in September or October.
