How do the open source tools like darktable and rawtherapee compare with lightroom?

I have not used Lightroom in a long while. Additionally I shoot mostly JPG and avoid post as much as possible. Rawtherapee displays poorly for me on my Dell monitor but it is probably the monitor. For viewing and small stuff I use Pix. GIMP is great but has a pretty long learning curve. I find showFoto does all of what I have wanted to do so far. showFoto seems to be a fork of rawTherapee but I am not sure and do not screw around with DNG's. Life is complicated enough as it is and massive post editing is not going to make a bit of difference in what I bring home on the camera. I hope this helps.

PS - I have Darktable but have used it little. It seems quite powerful and useful but, again, showFoto does what I need done. The fellows over there at Sony have more knowledge about how to make that DNG into a sweet JPG than I ever will. So I let them do my post work "in camera."
