I am a newer shooter with Sony and wanted to know if there was any way to mix manufacturers of flashes. I have a Sony flash with an RF trigger. Is there any way to add another 3rd party flash along with this setup, or do I have to go with one company for all of my flash needs. Any feedback would be appreciated.

the short answer is yes - sometimes.

check this out:

whole list of RF triggers that work with various brand flashes - good starting point, imho. it is a little older article, so you will probably have to do a little digging on your own.

Great, thank you, I will take a look!

It depends how much control you want to have of any extra flashes. Most can be set to trigger from sensing the controlled flash, but you'd need to set levels manually. (This also doesn't work so well outside in the sunshine)

Thanks Chris! Looks like I may have some different options, with perhaps some limitations

I have random flashguns like youngnuo and godox and if I don't have a trigger for ether one , I would just use it in slave mode , not in hss though as only one flash I own has hss option
