Well, you can see from my signature the lenses I have so far for my new a7r IVa. I figure it's time for my first prime lens for generally walking around the beautiful city of Austin, Texas. For me, the obvious choice seems to be the Sony FE 35mm f/1.4 GM. Anyone have any conflicting or confirming thoughts on the subject?

Just prepare to become addicted to primes. Next I suggest either 135mm GM or 50 GM.

Edit: I also have the 35GM but much prefer to use the 50 especialy with one of the C buttons programmed to toggle to APS-C and turn the 50mm f1.2 into a 75mm f1.8

Oh, I was already addicted to primes with my APS-C, Nikon D7200. I've also considered the 50, I'm still torn--that's why I asked.

And you should be torn, because the 50 GM is quite magical indeed. It has replaced the 135GM in 1st place of my fav FE-mount lens list. The 35GM stands 4th place even behind the Sigma 85 DG DN.

Edit: but if your A7R4a's max shutter speed is caped at 1/8000s then the 50GM might go to waste outdoors as you would need to stop it down often.

OK, you convinced me, the little bit of extra speed of the 1.2 and your glowing remarks, not to mention your magnificent photos, are enough to convince me... the 50 GM it is!... And... OF COURSE, it's backordered on B&H!

Thanks, Reicpro!
