This lens right here is a good example of market research. There is a trend of APSC users looking for a lens that fits the full frame equivalent of a 35mm (I think I even have a thread on this forum about the same topic), so Sigma said "give them what they want!" I also feel that their lenses are usually top notch, so this will sell well.

A 17mm F4 FF full frame prime...

I guess it would be good in a lightweight landscape kit, but wouldn't someone just have the 16-28mm instead, or the 16-35mm PZ if weight was actually the concern...
