Last week I went on a hike at Rattlesnake Point. Nice trails and it took about 4-5 hours combined (including short stops to take pictures). Managed to capture Turkey Vultures, Chipmunks, a snake I don't know the name of, and a waterbird I don't know the name of....

It was the first time I really tried to cpature birds in flight. The vultures moved relatively slow and as they circled a lot, I got a lot of chances to capture them. Nevertheless, I think I shot around 100 pictures of flying vultures and kept only around 12. All was shot on an a6300 with 100-400 gm.

Does anyone know what these species are? (Pictures 2 and 3)

The large brown birds with the red head are Turkey Vultures.

The black bird with the hooked beak is a Double-Crested Cormorant.

The snake is a Garter Snake.

The small mammal is a Chipmunk.

Thanks a lot!

I got a 'Birds of Canada' book, but the pictures in there did not really resemble the Double Crested Cormorant in the photo... And I really don't know any snakes, so thanks for this!

@Matthias These are great. Just to let you know, I started a thread for North American Wildlife, in case you want to post any of your photos there.
