Interestingly, I barely touched the duck photos in post.
In the first shot of the duck, it was just taking off, and the background was the water. The only edit was to lift the shadows a bit and crop in tighter.
In the second shot, I agree; the background could be seen as oversaturated, but I didn't change the background in post.
The duck had risen up in the air, and the background was the sky, not the water. That's why the colour is different from the first shot. No crop was needed; I again lifted the shadows of the duck a bit but did not adjust the background.
I have tried desaturating the background, and that yields a pleasing result too.
