As usual, Amazon's Prime Day is upon us when I find my pockets already rather empty :ROFLMAO:
Trying to convince the accountant/wife to let me buy another Viltrox prime lens (25mm f1.7) which is on sale for $140 USD.
In fact, all Viltrox Air primes seem to be on sale, including the full-frame 50mm f2.0 lens.

Has anyone seen anything interesting worth sharing?

Chris 41 years married has given me the confidence to buy what I want and boy the silence that follows from the wife is often quite nice 🤣

Prime Days are usually a good time to look for storage deals and not just from Amazon as nearly every retailer now tries to do something to match Amazon.

Good point; other retailers such as DJI, CanvasPeople, Adorama, Nomatic, they are all pitching "mid year sales" this week to match Prime Day.

There's nothing jumping out at me over here and I'm trying hard not to look at camera gear since I picked up the 400-800. Although I am looking for birthday presents for a soon to be 3 year old 🥳

I prefer a more passive approach: I put it in the cart and gave her the puppy dog eyes. It worked. Viltrox lens arrives on Thursday :ROFLMAO:

I was disconcerted to see a note from Amazon saying that card was frequently returned - looked at the one star reviews, and they say you have to buy the OWC CFeB reader to be able to update the firmware on the card. That’s a bit rude.

I have a couple of the 480GB cards, but I think I might hold off buying any more if this is a real problem. I have two CFeA readers already, and the OWC one is a hack - they sell you a CFeB reader and an adapter from CFeA to CFeB…

Mine has been working great. I have bought a load of OWC stuff over the last 25 years or more and never had a single problem with any of it.

Nothing photographic but I just bought a pair of Beats Studio Pro Wireless Headphones on Amazon for $200 less than I can get them from Apple...

Some deals on things I've bought in the past and like
1. NEEWER Basic Magnetic Handheld Light Wand - 20% off - Nice light option, good battery life, small size and lots of color options
2. NEEWER Tripod Leveling Base - 27% off - This works great

Huh.

I have never had the need to update the firmware on any memory card I have owned (OWC or otherwise). Having said that, I agree, needing their reader to update the firmware would be a wee bit of a PITA.

I can tell you that one reason for the frequent returns is due to an issue with Amazon distribution and NOT with the card itself. I had purchased one of the Type A cards only to receive a Type B card. Returned it. Ordered again. Same deal. Apparently, the personnel at our local Amazon war cannot differentiate between the letters A and B. Schmucks. I ended up ordering from B&H.

I use ProGrade readers for my cards and they are screamingly fast when connected to a ThunderBolt 4 port.

I agree that the Prograde CFexpressA readers are brilliantly fast.

I am hoping my OWC cards never need firmware updates!
