Birds Birds not in Flight Thread - Post Your Shots Here

This is the iconic Cock of the Rock from Ecuador. It was at a Lek. So many birds there all trying to entice the females. Well they got me but only for the photos I could get of them.

Love the Painted Bunting!

A day at the Silvio Conte National Wildlife Refuge in Hadley, MA. Just some regular ol'birds flying all over the place. I am learning how to use this FE400-800, but it is a steep learning curve especially when I am also new to using a monopod. All is coming along and it was a good day.

Here we have a fine Catbird. That is one fat bird.

Here we have a Barn Swallow. Wow, are these birds fast. Catching them in flight is a crazy challenge and way too fun! Really amazing.

What this fine Tree Swallow looks like when it is not in flight. I guess a good rest was necessary.

And finally, I found a shore bird, this Solitary Sandpiper. A first for me.

And, I thought this House Finch was very noble looking. Yep, just a finch, but sure is pretty.

And as I went to go home, I ran into this turtle. Yep, not a bird, but still a painted turtle enjoying this nice sunny day.

So, it was a good day for me. I know these are nothing exotic, but I continue to learn and improve. Just wanted to share...

No doubt, this is a professional modelling bird. Taken at Mass Audubon Arcadia Wildlife Sanctuary in the meadows located in Easthampton, MA. I enjoyed the visit and glad to have this photo and some others as a result. The green bokeh is created by the massive meadow behind this bird. One fine Tree Swallow.

Tree Swallows are a very confident birds with a spunky attitude.

Same birds as I posted in the Birds in Flight thread. The Scissor-Tailed Flycatcher is so rare that it has garnered lots of attention the past two years as it nested nearby. This year the nest is right below an Osprey nest.
