When you said the runway crosses the road, I thought you meant crosses OVER it, like on a bridge. But you literally mean the runway crosses the road!

Yes the rock is I believe the only 6.9 miles square, the runway closes the road once every 15 minutes, they are talking about tunneling under the runway which is difficult given the runway is at sea level
 
Gary, I was once at the Rock of Gibraltar but I don't believe it had a tram. How long has it been there? The Tram that is, not the rock. :D

Yes there is a tram and it been there a long time I am not sure how long for sure as long as I have visited, the difference in 3 years from pre covid to this year is vast the development around the port area is crazy and the town has had millions spent on it and property prices have increased 1 bed apartments are £500.000 up and 3 bed with pool on the edge of the town now between £1.5-7 million
