Good afternoon everyone,
Earlier today I had set my alarm for 3am to take the short drive to Nine Mile Burn where the hike starts to get me to West Kip at 551 m above sea level, at this time of year there was alomost enough light to hike up without a headtorch.
As I made my way up the sunrise could have gone one way or another with a lot of thick clouds, as I made my way up, thankfully they remained fairly high up when the actaul sunrise happened.
When I reached the summit at 04:00am I saw the early hues of magenta, blues, orange and a hint of red in the latter stages of the blue hour, at this height I expected to see the sunrise at 04:35am, within a few minutes these clouds rolled in to help bring some lovely textures to the sky.
