So though some more trial and error, I have learned that Focus Area "wide" or "zone" both add the green motion tracking focus areas that I was looking for.  Center, Flexible Spot, expand flexible spot, and tracking wide (the other focus area options) do not present this tracking mechanism.  Does this sound accurate to you?  And am I missing somethings as it relates to trying to get great focused shots for action photio such as football/baseball?  thx.
