So this is a series photo of a mallard landing
Seems using a wider area autofocus setting and snow are not a good combination to acquire focus on a bird. Was using focus area of C1 which is basically the wide area reduced to about 75% of the frame and subject detection set to bird.
Maybe next storm I will try using the new 100mm macro to get snowflakes in flight.
