Birds Barn Owl at St Benets

We had a late afternoon visit to a local raptor hotspot today. It didn't disappoint. with some close views of this wonderful Barn Owl, among others. Pretty pleased with how these turned out. This owl actually screeched at my wife and I as we caught it off guard. Shot in crop mode and further cropped in post.

Wow, they are great images. I'm yet to see an owl in the wild. I can hear one from my house, but I have never been able to see it.

@evacguy That will be a Tawny Owl, the only owls that have a call, the classic t-wit t-woo. They are pretty hard to find but will sit out in the daytime.

Lovely shots Kev. I’ve had a barn owl box up in our barn on the farm for years but never had one in it, just bloody pigeons. Nothing in the little owl box either.

@ Tim. Strange with the Barn Owls, but I guess there needs to be some locally to breed and spread out. No shortage at St Benets. 8 there in Winter, and at least 5 born this year.
