I expect that future cameras may not have a mechanical shutter as per the recent Nikon Z9......

Nikon having announced only in The past day or two they will drop SLR’s Completely.

It is clear the camera technology of the future will revolve around the digital/electronic shutter

and for the consumer will provide cameras with greater shot longevity and limited moving

parts which many camera failures/faults revolve around.

The industry rode the film to digital wave, the demise of the dslr(on going), the switch to

mirrorless etc etc so I don’t think the demise of the mechanical shutter is going to be a

major stumbling block and like in the past the consumer will just have to get used to it...

as bad as that sounds.

As a Nikon to Sony shooter I don’t have any issues with electronic shutters and feel the

pros outweigh the  cons.......no point hanging onto ghosts of a byegone era. Ultimately

it is the cost we payN for new ideas, developments and innovations which ultimately

enhance the quality of our lives.
