First test of focus bracketing (A6700), and of a new app to process the pictures.

The available parameters make my head spin.

If you don't mind sharing, which lens did you use and how many photos did you stack? I know some photo-stacks strip the metadata when you export to jpg.

Ah, good point. Indeed, I hadn't noticed that the application strips the metadata.

Lens : Tamron 17-70mm f/2.8 Di III-A VC RXD.

For this image, I used a 5-stack shot.
All shots are: 1/1000, f2.8, ISO=200, Focal length = 38mm. Camera on tripod (I now realize I had forgotten to deactivate SteadyShot).

There was more wind that I had realized, and this stack is the only one usable.

Gotcha. That was one of my favorite lenses, I only swapped out to the Sony 16-55 G on a whim. I think the results came out pretty good.

This is something I will be practicing with now I have an A1 to hand. What software did you use to process?

I use Helicon Focus which gives you several options for how you want it to work the stacking. The software is easy to use.

When I got my 6700, I was shocked that Sony software does not provide for dealing with focus bracketing.
I did some research, and tried to compare Helicon and Zerene on the one hand, and the few free alternatives available until recently.
The price of the commercial apps, as well as their learning curve, made me sit back and decide there was no urgency.
Then, last week, the daily message from Franzis Software offered Focus #9 Professional for $20. I have used some of their apps before, and some of them are useful, interesting or effective, sometimes all of them.

So, for this first test, I used Focus #9 Professional. It works (there are so many settings that they make my head spin). The trial version adds a watermark, so I thought I could afford the price.
