Hello, I'm Ian, a graphic designer and photographer specialising in work for not-for-profits here in the UK. I live in Birmingham.

My photography work spans documentary, events, portraits, headshots, PR and editorial. I think my style could be described as quiet and natural - I prefer to be low profile for events and documentary work. Most of my paid work is for charities working in the fields of criminal justice, mental health and wellbeing, homelessness and housing, and social justice. I love documenting the lives of people who are dealing with big social challenges, prejudices and exclusion.

I've had a journey with cameras and lenses since I started shooted digital. I set out with Canon (the 5D Mk ii really chnaged me), then moved to Nikon (the D750 was and still is a delight), then Sony. I've dipped into Fujifilm and Ricoh along the way. I'm currently using an A7 IV and A7R IIIa, plus a Ricoh GR III which is mostly for personal work. It would take a lot to move away from Sony, largely because the choice of lenses is so fantastic. My Instgram is mostly filled with photos from my phone - most often of junk I find on the streets.

If I ever stopped taking photos for paid work, I'll probably trade in everything for a Leica Q2. Will that get me thrown out of the group?

I'm very curious about pther people's photography and process, bboth creatively and technically. I'm looking forward to hearing other people's perspectives and seeing their work.
