A week or two ago I was talking to my mother and we were discussing my dad, who passed away in April of 24. I've posted about him before, and my username is an homage to him, as he used the handle "Snapshot" in a lot of venues. He was a longtime photographer who got his start as a newspaper photog in the 1960s. He had an enormous collection of cameras, and they're all sitting in mom's basement aging. The topic of our conversation came around to photography, and she started talking about his collection.

Later in his life, when he finally had the means, he bought himself a Hasselblad 503cw, with some lenses and other accessories. It may have been his most prized possession, and my mom told me so. She said "He sure loved that Hasselblad, but he loved you more. Maybe it's time you should have it." She told me to come over and dig around in his darkroom and find it. (He built himself a darkroom in the basement in the 1970s, where we used to develop film and make prints. He hadn't used it in ages, and it's stacked high with all his stuff. The big basin sink has boxes stacked to the ceiling.) I found many things digging around in that darkroom... His extensive collection of Minoltas, old Pentax spotmatics, a handgun he had been missing... some film cameras of mine that I gave him when I went digital, His Rolleiflexes, an occupation era Nikon rangefinder, and finally his Hasselblad bag.

So last week I received his Hasselblad 503cw, with three lenses, a prism finder, four backs, a winder, and compatible sunpak flash. She also told me to clean out the freezer. He had a big tote full of 120 film with expiration dates back to the late 90s. She even let me take back the Pentax PZ-1p that I gave him back in the early 2000s.

The Hassy is kind of an awesome thing to have, and I'm thinking I may just start a blog about using it with the old film.

Of course now I'm looking at the CFV digital back, which only runs about $7500. 100MP with 15 stop dynamic range, oh my!

I've got a local shop that will develop the film for $7 a roll, but it costs double for them to digitize it. I'm looking for a copy stand I can 3D print, so I can use my a7R III for digitization. Anybody got any good source for photo gadget shape files?
