On a recent walk, my son and I happened upon this tree. It was certified by the Michigan Botanical Society as the largest Ironwood Tree in the state and is being investigated as possibly the largest one in the country. It has a canopy spread of 67' and is 70' tall. Not large by some tree standards, but for an Ironwood it's pretty big, as they normally grow to about 40'.
