This is Jango, over 100kg of juvenile lion, still waiting for his mane to grow in. He has more than a mohawk and sideburns now, but his dad's mane is so much more impressive.
He's asleep 2 or 3 metres off the ground, front paws and tail dangling. He seems to be content there.
Shot with the A1 II and 70-200 GM II at f/2.8, 1/2500, ISO 100 - you won't be surprised to hear that Sony AF found his closed eye with no difficulty.
The shot is somewhat cropped, then scaled to 2000 pixels wide for this site.
