Every November, the monarchs arrive in Santa Cruz, CA to find a warm spot for the winter. During the night, the bunch up for heat and as soon as the sun warms them up, the search for milkweed. This was a waiting game to catch them in the sunlight but before the get warm enough to take off.

Absolutely amazing how many of these emerge at once. A super rare species over here, there has only been one genuine sighting in my lifetime.

I’d love to watch that sometime. We get Bogon moths in summer but they’re a fat grey moth, good eating, but not pretty!
