At the weekend I photographed this common frog at my local pond.
A week or so earlier I’d noticed a lot of frogspawn here, so I went back to see if any of the adults were around.
The pond was full of quiet activity, frogs swimming, surfacing, then disappearing again amongst the submerged foliage.I loved this moment of stillness, with the frog pausing at the surface, half-hidden in the dark water and plants around it. It felt like I’d been allowed a brief glimpse into their world before it slipped back beneath the surface.
