Moody shots. The second one is so great that when I was scrolling it looked like an animated gif as if the waves were moving.

Thank you, I always find it a challenge to take still photos in such a way that one can "see" the motion

Nice set , the first two are gorgeous

Nice work Etienne

Living inland like where it takes 4 hours one way and 6 hour the other way to get to the see and this is something I could not get use of.
But you have caught these so well as to me they made it so clear that inland is better then the coastal area. But then again I will not get shots like this which you have caught so good.

Thank you.

I grew up inland, 6-7 hours drive from the coast and promised myself that, as an adult, I would always live close to the sea. The sea just has something magical for me, in all its moods, calm or stormy. Certainly these storms have caused a lot of damage along the South African south coast in the past few days and living at the coast does have its disadvantages, but I would never want to live inland again.

Were you worried about your gear getting sprayed with saltwater? I'm too worried to use my camera in such scenarios 😅

It was a bit of a worry, but with the curve of the land, I could stand in a spot where the wind was coming across the land and mostly blowing the spray out to sea, so I just had to keep an eye open for big waves breaking on the rocks, like this one, for which I was standing far enough back that it wasn't an issue.
