As I have now processed all of my Waxwing shots, here are my favourites from the 20 minutes spent with him/her. The lighting gods were kind and the backdrop is the roof of a bungalow about 40 yards behind. I am thankful that the bird chose this spot to eat, as it basically framed itself for us! If I never get to photograph one again I won't be upset. Save for having a lower ISO I don't think I could have got cleaner shots. Stunning birds.

All stunning shots Kev. No. 7 is definitely my favourite.

You win. Beautiful. I can't believe you had 20 minutes with it. Were you hidden? How far away? Come on man, spit it out!

@Timothy Mayo, please shut the forum down for the rest of the week, there's no point!

Too kind Tim. Not hidden, not in the slightest actually. I was about 12-15ft away with 5 other photographers. The bird has been visiting this single trwe for the last 4 days, sharing it with Blackbirds, who also love the berries. It's at the end of a road in a residential street. I could have shot from my car. These sh0ts were all from a 10 minute period where she came and went a few times.

Beautiful birds and wonderful photography. I really like that, Lense; did you hand hold or use a tripod?

Cheers. All handheld. I literally never use a pod of any sort these days. I just find them too restrictive.

I had to look again. What a stunning set you have there, Kev!

Very Very Nice Kev..........you are very lucky to have had 20 mins with a waxwing.......

i tried to return to my UK roots to spend time with the waxwing winter influx but it
didn't work out.....

Good on you.... (y)

Cheers Ray. Not really had an influx yet, certainly not in England, just odd ones here and there, and certainly nothing like 5 years ago, but I live in hope :)

Yes i have been tracking movements through "Waxwings UK" and you are right it seems the 2022 Waxwing Invasion, as predicted by many of
the birder sites, does not seem to be happening.....

Seems i will have to wait until next year....and head off somewhere else instead....

Wow superb captures Kev..

There are currently 20 about 12 miles from me, but the weather is shocking. Very dull and wet, so I'm not bothering.

Cracking set Kev , waiting patiently for the birds currently in the UK to move West

Cheers. Hopefully you will get some. I missed out on the big flock near home recently, but the weather was pants anyway.
