Hello all! As age catches up on me I find my vision, even with glasses, does not allow me to see through my viewfinder very well, and trying to use the display screen is problematic with sunlight distortion. Have any of you experienced this and how have you overcome the problem?

I have the A7C along with an a1. The evf on the a7c is not brilliant to be honest. I bought a hot shoe mounted eye cup which keeps extraneous light out and does improve the picture in the evf. Kind of messes with the compactness though.

Worth a try.

One thing that probably doesn't help is the actual resolution of the viewfinder OLED. It's not the best and I certainly struggle with lower resolution viewfinders (I also wear glasses, have since I was 7). Until I got the A7RIV I would avoid them in cameras. The resolution is double that of the one on the 7C, so I would definitely consider it a factor. Sadly not something you can do much about.
I will say that even on the high resolution viewfinders there are times where it messes with my eyes, especially if photographing birds in water when there's a ripple, or when it's sunny.

I'm approaching my 78th birthday next month, have worn glasses virtually all of my life, but have have no difficulty with my a7RV - either the monitor, or the EVF. No, I assure you, I'm not bragging. I'm just a typical A-type personality retired physician.

From your inquiry here and the responses, you might want to visit your opthalmologist, or at least an optometrist; you could be having some early significant and or serious issues going on with your eyes. There are, unfortunately, more than a couple of eye diseases that are relatively common in older age groups, particularly macular degeneration. If you haven't been to an eye specialist in the past year or more, I'd give it a go. Not much to lose in any case.

Thanks for your response. A big part of the reason for my post is my upcoming opthalmologist visit. I have been dealing with some vision issues over the last few years and now that I am getting back into photography (thanks to my son) it's going to be a topic of discussion. Glad to hear you don't have the same issues and maybe I'll look at the a7RV. Also (a little early) - HAPPY BIRTHDAY!
