A nice consolation prize for missing a Wryneck at Oare this week, a wonderful Male Bearded Tit. It took me several visits over the years to ever see a male, but I seem to find them most visits now. This is a heavily cropped shot (not helped by me shooting in 16:9 mode by mistake - all day :D ) but still came out well, thanks to the silly resolution of the RIV and the sharpness of the 200 600.

Fabulous bird. Nice pose. Stems are a little distracting but it is what it is! The main issue is the pretty heavy-handed noise reduction used. What software do you use for NR.

I use Topaz and this was on Auto, but this is massively cropped and the ISO was high, which is why it's smoothed out a bit too much. Can't do much about the stems.

It's a pretty bird. The NR is what it has to be.

It is, given that this is a 3mb file from 75, it's pretty damned good. You lose a lot of fine feather details as ISO creeps up too.

wow! that is quite the crop - personally, i think the subject is sharp and the background is what it is, no skin off my cheek for it! :)
