Some Glorious, soft, evening light gave us a magical couple of hours at one of our favourite spots. We had somewhere between 40 and 50 kingfisher sightings in 2 hours, unfortunately no good shots of them. Next time.
Coots are always good to watch, they're the drunken uncle at a wedding reception of the bird world, always ready for a scrap. They really do look like harbingers of terror when they get a drink inside them.....
Little Grebes often get neglected due to their common status. In this light though, they shine.
This Egret posed beautifully for us, despite the blowing reeds constantly getting in the way, I got a few shots, including the demise of a small fish supper.
Not many places provide a scene like this....
A resplendant Marbled duck, taking a bath
Ferruginous duck, glowing in the evening light.....
This little Bittern flew into the reeds attracting our attention, it took me about ten minutes to locate him after that due to his perfect camouflage. This is a massive crop.
I'll throw these two in just for proof of the Kingfishers...
