I purchased an A1ii in September that came with a 2-year warranty (a one-year warranty and a free one-year extension that Sony is currently offering). Having never owned a camera at this price point (a7iii and a7iv), I never purchased an extended warranty. What advice can you all offer on the following:
2 year = $289
3 year = $361
2 year with accidental damage = $339
4 year with accidental damage = $554

Should I purchase an extension, thinking the 3-year period since I have theft and damage protection on all my gear through PPA? That would kick my coverage out to 5 years. I have never had a camera break. However, my Sony 70-200 GMi failed and was repaired under warranty.

My Personal Articles policy covers 20k in "camera equipment" for $220 a year. That covers theft and damage, accidental or intentional, and any combination of gear I so choose. Why cover specific gear when you can cover whatever needs to be?

PPA costs $323 a year for $15k of all gear insurance for loss or damage. You also get membership and a decent monthly magazine. I guess all policies have pluses and minuses.
