Thanks for allowing me to join the Alpha Shooters forum. I am new to the Sony Alpha cameras. I am replacing my old Nikon D40 with a new Alpha 7C. Looks like I have a lot to learn, so any input on User guides, youtube videos or books, would be greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to reading many of the posts on Alpha Shooters as I learn how to use my new camera. Have a great day to all!

Welcome to the forum.

Welcome Jim, best way in the world to learn is press that shutter button and see what comes out. Admittedly, it can take a lifetime, but hopefully we get there before the end.

Welcome to the cult! Friedman and Busch have great books on Sony cameras. They go well beyond the owners manual and offer tips and recommendations. I usually get both of their books when I get a new camera body because they really get into how the camera works and how to get the most out of it. The electronic versions are cheap which I keep on my iPad so they are always with me. I have to admit though that I am a geek when it comes to reading instructions on new stuff.

Some tips:
- Use the FN menu
- For menu options you think you will use most setup the favorites menu option

Thanks for the heads up on the books. I purchased David Busch's a7C book and I am learning a lot able the camera and how to set it up as a beginner. So for so good! jim
