I generally prefer using DxO Photolab to edit but have had to use Lightroom since getting the a7Rvi. The good news is that DxO has added support for Rvi. The bad news is that it only supports the Lossless Compressed format for RAW files. I set my camera up using Mark Galer's Camset file and he uses different formats depending on the needs. I did adjust some settings for my preferences but most of what I've seen suggests using the compressed for action to get the files to be a little smaller and allow a bit more shots in the buffer. I've just gone in and changed all the presets to use Lossless Compressed. I may have to buy a bigger card.

I'm hoping that DxO will add support for the other RAW formats since they supported Compressed format on the RV. The only modes they didn't support on the Rv were the in camera adjusted Compressed M and S formats.

I am only using Lossless Compressed, but I'm using mechanical shutter, too.

I think DxO supports the lossy Compressed for other Sony bodies, so I think that's likely to come. I don't know about CompressedHQ.

I have been playing around with the electronic shutter more but will also use the mechanical shutter more once I get back to shooting sports. I shot an even yesterday and used mechanical for almost everything. I have had a problem at times with the Pre-Capture being grayed out after shooting a mix of mechanical and electronic shutter. I'll turn on Speed Boost but notice that the buffer is not filling.

I do suspect that DxO will add support for Compressed and Compressed HQ in the future, probably with PhotoLab 10 to "encourage" upgrades. The only formats they didn't support in previous a7R models were RAW M and RAW S. Compressed HQ seems to be similar to what was once the RAW L mode. I would certainly like to have the option to shoot in those formats and still edit in DxO.
