What Photography Related Item Have You Bought or Sold This Week?

I bought a couple of Black Acrylic Sheets 20"x24" to help with things like this

  • ILCE-1
  • FE 90mm F2.8 Macro G OSS
  • 90.0 mm
  • ƒ/13
  • 1/100 sec
  • ISO 800

I was previously using one of my tablets for these but those kind of limited what I could attempt. For example I couldn't make this with those because the tablet options were just not large enough to have the photographic angle and still get the full reflection.

sold my a7r5 purchased the a7r6 ,the a7r6 is quite accomplished ,nice update almost makes my A1 redundant especially for portrait ,landscape and wildlife , and some event work ,where i will revert back to A1 is sports, motor sports ,and prop blades at airshows but then i can always go to mechanical and at least i get the full 10fps unlike my a7r5 limited to 6.5 fps in continous shooting .rolling shutter is always something to note not seen to much evidence with bif ,but bees and insects it,s warping shows,if you want the best stills machine its going to be the r series ,video is half decent now and supercedes my A1 which is starting to feel a little dated now but still a goodie .

Today I received my new Leofoto replacement lens footsie for my Sony 100-400m f/4.5 lens. Nice balance, perfect fit and much more handspace and tripod mounting room!

Very nice! I hope mine arrives soon.

if I may ask: what bag are you using to carry the 100-400? I am considering the ThinkTank Backlight Sprint, but having trouble finding a store with it in stock, so I’m keen to hear alternative suggestions.

I'm looking for some advice from UK members. I'm looking to purchase a new Sony A1ii and possibly a Sony GM 300 mm. I'm a little uncomfortable with the grey market, so would welcome any suggestions about where to purchase at a good price. I was looking a WEX, they don't have a cheap price, but at the moment they are offering some free gift bundles with each item. If purchased together, could I expect to get a better than advertised price?

Here in the US have found that the only vendors that give a discount are selling grey market, although store like B&H have a credit card they offer that discounts the sales tax if made by the end of that moths billing cycle or no interest if paid off in a year

I've used Panamoz and e infinity many times. Never had an issue.

I tend to use mostly Panamoz now, as their three year warranty is superior to High Street.

Delivery is generally around 3 - 7 days.

I do use Wex occasionally, but savings of over a grand on a camera body make me question what we are paying for? The grey importers all claim to pay uk tax.

I like to use LCE whenever I can as they are the only decent in town camera shop near me.

The 300mm is a gorgeous lens, I got mine second hand.

Thanks Bob, I don't think we have anything similar in the UK.

Thanks Dave. Yes the Grey Market dealers are considerably cheaper, but I feel uncomfortable concering warranty situation (WEX is offering a SONY 5 year warranty as part of the bonus package) and the tax situation (do Grey Market dealers pay the required UK TAX).

By all accounts, the 300mm is a lovely lens - and quite light. From what I've read, it also performs well with the 2.0x TC.

I could have used both the A1ii and the 300 mm lens on my vacation last week - I was shooting some amazing Red Kites in flight over Norfolk, but only had my A7iv and 70-200mm GM II with 2.0x TC - hopefully my shots have come out, but I will need to do some heavy cropping!

I have both the Sprint and the BackLite 18L. The Sprint narrows at the top of the bag, limiting (for me) it's usefulness for larger lenses. I much prefer the BackLite 18L:

Here's my A1II, 100-400mm f/4.5, the 28-70mm f/2 and the Viltrox 16mm. Still lots of space for spare batteries, cleaning kits and the shoulder strap (BlackRapid). If I don't want those spare lenses, I might just take the A7CR and Tamron 25-200mm.

If you join the Professional Photographers of America you'll get a 5% discount on most Sony gear at B&H.
