Red burmese were created by adding ginger tom genes into the pedigree and they are always basically tabbies unlike the other colours which are solid with slightly darker points. Just googled , and its a 20 /80 split because girls need two O genes to be ginger and boys can be red with one. The ginger gene is called the O gene ( maybe O for orange ? ).

Lily and Rosie, the red and the cream have the same parents and were born 6 moths apart. Red burmese girls and cream girls are even rarer because very few burmese carry the O gene as it's not naturally occurring like it is in the general cat population.
