The batsman shots are fairly easy as they don't move around too much - I think typically I've used AF-S but AF-C would work equally as well. For the bowlers running in normally I'll pre-focus on the crease using AF-S at the spot where they are going to be bowling the ball and then fire off of small burst of shots using Continuous Hi+ mode.

I've not photographed any cricket since I got my A9 so would like to give that a go using AF-C and tracking the bowlers as they run though to their delivery stride - when they release the ball.

Thanks both for the kind words! I was really pleased how nice and clear the shots were using the 100-400 + 1.4x TC. You don't get that lovely background separation that you would using a fast and long prime glass but not bad nevertheless.

I'd really like to give the 200-600 a go to see how that performs. Even using the 100-400 with the 1.4x and crop mode I've still had to crop a little in post processing. With the 100-400 you can shoot at an effective 840mm. With the 200-600 that get's increased to 1260mm although at f9 I'd only want to use the 1.4x in good light.
