well my local Kingfisher appeared for me with in a few minutes on the hottest day of the year i have to make the most of these opportunities as the area will soon be a 550 home and 150 care home project shame the wildlife will not be a consideration really, a park as token gesture does not replace farmland and wild fields ,anyways i have been touting the 400-800mm with mixed feelings about the lens sharpness and detail i feel is lacking compared to primes ,and i am not sure any better than the 200-600mm once you factor in light loss ,but it scores heavily on close up work with the ability to stay far enough away from some subjects small birds and insects for instance but still filling a good portion of the frame ,the lens does not cope as well as my sigma 500mm 5.6 for cropping but has 300mm more in reach ,but weighs a ton , it still has plus points like good af and greatly diffused back grounds at 800mm with good ibis and the feeling of being connected with subject ,the 400mm minimum has be awkward at times anyways a few pics of a male kingfisher .
