Rumors 100-400 rumors, did I hear that right?

Gotta admit I'm a little confused by Andrea's commentary on this one. So there will be (two?) new 100-400s, a variable aperture G and a constant f4 GM? I know its a popular focal length, but really? Surprised. If it is a constant f4 GM how big will it be? internal or telescoping zoom? If it takes the TCs as well as the 70-200II it will be a very popular lens. I'm following this one closely.

A 100-400 F4 would be very nice. Though I suspect it would probably be a $4-6k price. I don't get a 100-400 G being a f4-6.3 since the current is a 4.5-5.6, why would it be slower than the current at the long end? I can't see myself replacing my 100-400GM anytime soon even if a 100-400GMii would be a constant F4. I could see myself either replacing the 200-600G with the 400-600G or a newer version before I get a new 100-400.

maybe the slower aperture at 400mm is so they can make the G smaller / lighter?

I have a 100-400 GM and the 200-600. The 100-400 is more suitable for travel and a touch brighter. In a perfect world I would like a 150-500 which is a bright and sharp as the 100-400 GM and still collapses for travel. I would likely sell my 100-400 and 200-600 to get that. It however would need to be a Sony lens that could keep up with my A1.
