  1. Yes
wondering what folks are listening for, or perhaps know something about...?
  • 100-400 f4 GM TC (would be great if built in TC)
  • 100-400 G
  • 400 f2.8 II TC (again, would be great if built in TC)
anything else?

SonyAlphaRumors had a wild rumor about a new camera being announced, maybe a new FX3. He also said something wilder, a possible new APSC... I doubt it but just keeping my ears and eyes open.

Not much to add.... Other than I sure hope the 100-400mm f/4 is announced soon! Particularly since I just sold my old 100-400mm in anticipation of buying the new one.

I've not heard that it might(?) have a built-in teleconverter. For reference, I have seen this, this, and this.

I think all the noise about “internal TC” is coming from hopeful people, rather than real leaks. You know, the usual “brand X does it, so Sony MUST do it…” stuff. I can see the convenience, but I wonder about the reliability and accuracy of moving a TC group in and out of the optical path.

I will be curious to see if the A7RVI starts to hit the rumour mills - the A7RV was announced in late 2022, so its fourth birthday is this year. SAR posted one snippet about possible specs (with a warning that they were wild).

Doubt we’ll see any A9IV or A1 III news this year - too soon.

Usual question of whether there will be an A7SIV. Whether there will be a new APS-C model. etc.

Well, it was quiet, until yesterday. Now there is some discussion about a possible A7RVI being released in May - not a big surprise, given the A7RV is now approaching 4 years old.

There are the usual pundits claiming that the rumours cannot possibly be true because the rumours would make the putative camera "better than the A1", and Sony would never do that!

At least we won't have to wait all that long to determine the truth of this rumour (and whether the rumoured specs are accurate.

...not to mention, the obligatory 'And they're announcing new lenses, too!'.

We'll see.

I find that I am not missing the old 100-400mm as much as I had thought I would. Instead, I've picking up my 200-600mm and Sigma 500mm alot more often. These are both wonderful lenses.

It was interesting that the "two different 100-400 lenses" rumour has disappeared, and it's just the 100-400 f/4.

I saw someone wonder if the 100-400 f/4 might be another of Sony's fixed-length lenses. That would appeal to me, because I dislike the extension of the existing 100-400. Getting rid of the variable max aperture and the extending barrel would address both of the things I dislike about it!

Agreed, that is interesting.

For me, I'll only be interested in the 100-400mm f/4
