I remember when we would only consider a prime for portraits. Zooms have gotten so good and the 70-200 makes an excellent portrait lens.

single light flash? set up, yep zooms for me mostly the 70-200mm at 5.6 matches most primes ,portrait you do not want high sharpness across frame .but there are times a prime is essential and the fall off /bokeh seperation can be appreciated ,light gathering where a flash set up can not be implemented ,beautiful red head picture and a touch of green on her ring ,complimentary colours ,on a composition note the back ground with horizontal facia can be a distraction something for next time ?

Yes beautiful color separation, especially when you have a model with striking hair like that. I agree the horizontal lines SLIGHTLY distract from the image. Perhaps a bit more background blur would have helped. As a hockey photographer one thing I ALWAYS encounter is the red dasher that runs along the top of the boards. I always have to ensure this is absolutely horizontal in the image during crop. You can see it in your photo where a very slight tilt right would correct it. This is a great image, but I guess it’s just in our nature as photographers to tweak-albeit sometimes too much. I do a lot of sports and wildlife, I wish I was better at portraits like you.
