For those not familiar, Greenfield Village is an outdoor open-air museum founded by Henry Ford and comprised of many original buildings from around the world, such as the Wright Brothers Cycle Shop and Noah Webster's home, as well as some duplicate buildings like an old Edison power plant. It was the first museum of this type in the country. There is also a Cotswold cottage that was purchased by Ford and brought to the museum. All original buildings were disassembled, shipped, and reassembled on the museum grounds.

In addition to being open to regular museum visits, they also do special events like Christmas, Hallowe'en, old car (nothing newer than 1933) events, and several more. The village is about a 40 minute drive from my home, we have visited it many times, but this was our first Halloween. It rained the entire time, not hard but enough to be less pleasant than we'd have liked. We went prepared with umbrellas and rain gear.

I took the A7 IV, 24-105, and a couple of fast primes. Because of the rain I didn't want to change lenses so shot the entire thing on the 24-105, which made it difficult when it got dark.

This is the Robert Frost Home. They had the woman in white lit in a cyan color, so I decided a cinema style split tone would be fun.

The Headless Horseman chased Ichabod Crane through the corn shocks several times that evening. By the time we got there it was pretty dark and they had no lighting for the display up close. Tough shooting, the camera didn't even want to focus. One of the primes would've been a better choice, but the rain kept up. Lots of noise.

It's really big over here, second only to Christmas when it comes to decorating. I'll post up a video of my front yard haunt when I do my effects and lighting dry-run later this week.

I say nice set of shots and also say well done.
I have no idea what it means at all and have no interest in it but in the last 5 to 7 years this has taken off here,
I think if you don't want nothing to do with it you put a pillow case on your letterbox and then the kids just don't
come to your door.
I know a lot of thing get copied but like me most have no idea what it is about but act like sheep and do it.
But it has meaning your way and this is what I like about it there.

It's really a conglomerate of several different beliefs, including a Celtic festival from Ireland, a Roman holiday day called All Hallows Eve which evolved into the Roman Catholic 'All Saints Day' on November 1, the harvest, which is where the pumpkins come from. The Celts believed that the separation between the spirit world and the mortal world was thinnest on Halloween, so costumes were used to celebrate.

Add commercialism with a chance to sell costumes, decorations, and candy, and there you go!

It's really just a lot of fun for fun's sake.

I'm with Ralph here, I think it's strange stuff. Even when I was a kid I never understood why people celebrate fear and death whilst walking around the neighbourhood getting a bag filled up with sugar, the thing responsible for the most deaths in the world each year. I give the kids bottles of water and tell them to stop watching the television programming and using social media.

You just know I was ready to rant Timmy. Im keeping most of it in today... 😄

Nice clean photography as usual. ✅

Come on over, get into costume, walk around and have fun. It can be your alter ego if you don't wear anything with a hood!

Wearing something with a hood would really drive home the alter ego. Maybe I could just dress up as a Sony 200-600mm G lens, I already have a brand new lens hood to put over my head and if I put on my all white Sunday church outfit which is also still brand new I'll be good to go.

I'm about to launch my kayak into the water, I'll be there soon... 🌞
