The new firmware is already up on the Sony Australia website. Supports a bunch of new features, but the one that intrigues me is the shooting display change for vertical orientation - amusingly, Fro Knows was grizzling about that recently
(He may claim to have inspired it
)
One of the nice touches on the website is that if you go to the page for the A1 II, there is a note just below the header which says "There is new software available" and a link directly to the support section for the A1 II - that's much nicer that the usually trolling through the Support section to find updates.
I'm downloading the firmware now (1.19GB download!). There is a new version of the Remote Camera Tool as well (with enhancements that I think require the new firmware).
Trying to decide if I chance being an early adopter, but I think I may.
I am a bit surprised to get another firmware update, but maybe Sony is seeing the positive reactions to Nikon updates, etc? Definitely not complaining!
