Sony A7R + A7R II A7R ii Firmware Update

I recently obtained a A7RII. I noticed the current firmware is v4.01. I'm on v3.30. I have a Mac and am totally lost on how to update the firmware. Has anyone else ran into this? How can I get this camera updated?

Yeah that is the process I’m trying to follow. Either I’m missing a step or it simply doesn’t work.

Recent versions of MacOS have made updates using a Mac more difficult. If you are on Monterey, in particular, the firmware update (for more recent cameras) involved disabling one of the security features in MacOS. I don't know if Sony has put together all the pieces to allow older firmware updates to be applied using a Mac running Monterey.

Honestly, I think the best advice we can give you at the moment is to find someone with a Windows machine and do the firmware update using that.
