Crow drying off after a dip in the Thames. He is pirched on the chimmney pot of The Yacht pub on the Thames at Greenwich. Given the low light conditions, it was sunset, it was really difficult to pull out the details from the crow. I had to work hard in LrC.

A Northern Cardinal I happened upon last week. He swooped down, long enough to pose on the rail in front of me, then disappeared into the trees.

In the past week I have gotten photos of four new birds, two at a nearby lake and two in my yard.

This Black-bellied Whistling-Duck is only the second of this species to have been recorded in this area. It was seen at a lake about 5 minutes from my house.

After seeing the previous duck and getting a photo with my RX10iv, I returned the next day with my a7RV. I didn't get good shots of the Whistling-Duck but did see a Red-breasted Merganser for the first time.

Two years ago I heard and got a glimpse of a Great Crested Flycatcher and had heard or seen one a few other times but was never able to get a photo. This past week I heard one in my neighborhood and finally was able to get a lot of photos over the past couple of days.

This morning I heard a bird call that was not familiar so I pulled out the Merlin app and it identified it as a Northern House Wren, a bird I have not seen or heard before. A few minutes later it flew into my back yard and I was able to get some photos.

This is a bird that for years I have been trying to get a good photo of. Typically Scarlet Tanagers like to hang out high in trees but this one was fairly kind and came down to say hello.

Beautiful - striking color contrast!

You seem to have a bounty of interesting & colorful wildlife nearby - I am jealous!

I would call this one "bird almost in flight" a juvenile peregrine falcon practicing, Torrey Pines State Park San Diego CA.

All the birds I posted recently should be/have past through your area. You should have the Indigo Bunting, Common Yellowthroat and more likely the Summer Tanager instead of the Scarlet.

Go here: https://ebird.org/hotspots zoom into your area and see what people have been finding at places around you and then do a little reading on them, download the Merlin app, go out use the Sound Id to help know what is around and search.

A Pair of Common Grackles. I was shooting the one standing on the chain when the other one suddenly went flying right past!
