Brits back home didn't believe swans could be black when early visitors to Australia's shores reported them.

To get airborne Black Swans flap and run, and they get up to around 30 kmh before lifting off.

Beautiful shots Ern! I've spotted them here on a local reserve here so I know they can definitely be black as well! :) It's certainly a long haul flight from Australia!
 
Nice. There are a few here and there in parks and stately homes here. They are superb. Funnily enough I saw 3 on a pond last week, and it's a place I've not seen them before. I was driving by but need to stop off with the camera next time.
