Butterfllies are only sensitive to sideways movement, the do not react to movement directly towards them, which is worth remembering when you try to stalk them.

I think they say something like that about bulls? Never dared test it*. Especially with butterflies!

Lovely shot. Peacock, right? A brain cell says Nymphalis io but I'd be astounded if its exactly right.





*A friend and I did test this: "If you lie down on your back in a field of cows will come over and sniff you." We found it to be true!
