Insects butterfly from yesterday a1 lea-5 300 g 2.8 mk1

A Peacock, one of the first species to fly. I never used to get them in my garden but now it is one of the most abundant species, so they seem to be benfitting from climate change.

Fifty years ago I might have managed the Latin name!

But I do remember this: their larvae like to eat nettles. So don't keep your garden too tidy!

I am less sure of myself on this one, but I think the adults overwinter, to fly and breed the following spring before dying. I seem to remember having one in the house once.
